In this project me and my friend Chiara Kanya programmed a 3D computer game only with OpenGL and C++. The textures, lighting and special effects like bloom and particle systems are fully coded.
After travellig together to Hoi An in Vietnam, we decided to set ourselves a challenge and try to capture the atmosphere as well as the harmonious light environment in a playful computergame. Alongside, we wanted to learn the control of common 3D hardware and tackle topics such as real-time graphics, texture mapping, efficient visibility calculation, lighting and shading models, alpha blending and transparency effects, 3D interaction, 3D modeling and animation.

Game-story: The adventurous Quang, which means light in Vietnamese, got lost in the magic city of Hoi Chi. It is already dark and he needs to find and collect the magic lanterns for the famous Hoi Chi Lantern Festival and brighten up the city. Are you willing to help Quang to remember the correct order and find all the magic lanterns?
